Parallel View
Parallel View was made specifically for Far Lands, an exhibition using video games as tools to explore the theme of landscape in contemporary art making. Parallel View is a text based adventure game, set within a virtual counterpart to the Millennium Gallery in Sheffield, where Far Lands was shown.
Users were able to navigate the virtual gallery by typing in text commands, and could see all the works on show in the gallery, as well as discovering hidden secrets that gave a deeper understanding of the exhibition and artists involved. As the game was necessarily made before the exhibition was installed, interesting and uncanny discrepancies started to divide the physical and digital worlds.
