About
All that is visible expresses only the faintest outline of what is invisible.
David Cotton is a UK based artist whose interests lie in exploring the intersection of scientific research with the physical world; where the invisible becomes visible.
One of his primary concerns is in information theory, and how knowledge can be distorted through its means of conveyance – whether on a microscopic level, in how chemical signals between cells can become disrupted by mutation or infection; or at a macro scale, in how civilizations depict themselves through maps and charts.
David maintains an active interest in diverse fields such as artificial life, teratology, mapping, mathematics, impossible physics, and outdated scientific theories. He graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2011, and has exhibited across the UK and Europe. Previously he has worked with the Biotechnology Department of JCC (New York, USA) and the British Museum (London, UK), and is proud to have received funding from New York State Council on the Arts.
